formed on the highest part of the peninsula Havišće called
"Čelo", today overgrown with thin wood. This location
was attractive because it was easy to defend it and it had
a good controlling function. At that time, Indo-European inhabitants
were living of hunting, collecting shells, snails and breeding
cattle.
Between 12th and 9th
century B. C. Lilburn, who were owners of the North Adriatic,
were living on the elevation "Čelo". They also formed
a harbor, which was one of their most significant bases.
At the beginning of the new era, the old settlement is being
abandoned. At that, time Romanized aboriginals merged with
immigrant families from Italy and establishing new settlements
along roman state road and in small bays.
Between first decades of the 7th
century and beginning of the 9th,
happened a new life interruption. After that during the next
hundred years this
region was settled by Croatian people who arrived from the
North Dalmatia.
